Well the season is finally over. The draw prize winners are Colin Coyle of of Cambridge who wins a Winchester SXP 12 ga shotgun drawn from all the Turkey’s entered. Robert McClevis of Meaford wins a Winchester 12ga SXP Turkey Gun. The last few days seen a rush of turkey’s come in with a last minute non-typical winner shot by 15 year old Ethan Colling. Those of you who have won prizes can come in anytime and claim your prize. Thanks so much to the entrants who mad this another successful hunt. During the fourth week Sonja MacKinnon of Kincardine brought in a 29.88 lb Turkey. It turns out this was a Merriam Turkey which are a heavier bird with shorter spurs and beards than its eastern cousin. Unfortunately for Sonja there is no weight category this year. It still is the heaviest Turkey ever brought in since we stared registering Turkey’s over 18 years ago. There have been 352 Turkey’s weighed in this year down 42 from 2017. We had 978 entrants compared to a record 1100 in 2017. With the April snow storms putting a damper on the start of the season, things never got to where they should be. There was a lot of mention of the lack of Jake’s seen. Last year was a very wet spring which would have a big factor on the hatch of 2017. Once again thank you to all and see you next year when we hope to have a check station in Clinton.
