The second week winner is Chris Miche of Brussells with a monster at 80.1875 which gives him the Savage rifle and scope combo as well as the winner of the largest typical scoring turkey and earning him $1000 cash.

The first week winner and 2nd place winner of largest typical scoring turkey is Jerry Haan giving him the Savage rifle and scope combo as well as $500 cash.

Youth winner Avery McIsaac with a score of 73 has won the Savage MK II FV 22LR Rifle. 14 other Youth prize packages to be handed out as well to other youth entries.

Winner for the Ladies is Melanie Lalonde with a score of 71.56 which wins her a Remington 870 20ga shotgun.

Non-Typical winners are 1st Place Chris Auer with a score of 86.125 which earns him $500 cash and 2nd Place Chanse Regier with a score of 84.1875 which earns him $250 cash.

Heaviest weighing turkey winner 1st Place Dave Bimm weighing in at 27.04lbs which wins him a choice of a Winchester 12ga or $500 cash. 2nd Place heaviest turkey is Jason Dodds weighing in at 26.81 wins him what 1st heaviest winner does not take.

Winner of typical turkey shot with bow is Don Sowerby with a score of 71 which wins him a Excalibur Micro 335 Crossbow.

Winner of the Zeiss Terra 4-12×42 scope for entering a turkey to be scored is Frank Bristow of Owen Sound.

Winner of the Winchester SXP 12ga Shotgun by entering the contest is Allan Carnattan of London.

Take care and shoot straight. Final Turkey’s harvested this season was a total of 416.

Largest scoring Typical Turkey shot by a Lady wins a Remington 870 20 GA Shotgun

Largest scoring Typical shot by a Youth (Under 18 years old) wins a Savage MK II FV Target 22LR Rifle. There will also be nine other prizes for the youth category.

2015 Final Results

The final results of the contest are in with Pete Scholz of Port Elgin winning with the highest scoring typical turkey with a score of 76. Pete got the bird on the last day of the second week and also wins the Steiner Binoculars for second week leading score.

We weighed in 446 turkeys at the three weigh stations.

The winner of the Benelli Pump-Action shotgun drawn from the entry tickets is Craig Gracie of Kincardine. The winner of the Winchester 12ga Pump-Action drawn from the turkeys entered is Josh Vanslightenhorst of Owen Sound.

We had an unusual turkey shot by Gary Scott of Port Elgin which had two spurs on each leg.

Each youth in the top 10 wins a prize package.

The first week of the contest winner is Peter Scholz whose bird scored 78.875 and is the winner of contest. He is the leader of the first week for score so he wins the Excalibur Crossbow and carrying case.The second week winner is Jason Smith of Monkton had the highest scoring typical turkey claiming the Leupold Binoculars. We had 169 turkeys after the first week and after two weeks there have been a total of 223.

After the fourth week, we now have 296 birds, down just a little bit from last year, but that did not stop Tyler Donaldson from winning the Burris Scope and Bushnell Binoculars. The fourth week produced 46 birds weighed in, busier than the third week. The contest is over, with Terry Sorbey winning the Zeiss scope.

The last week saw 43 turkey’s come in bringing the total to of 339 four less than last year. The winner of the Benelli shotgun from all the entrants is Dan Huys of Allenford.

The winner of the Winchester shotgun from all turkey’s entered is Rob Price of Wiarton. We appreciate all those entrants who helped raise $4850.00 to go to The Eat & Learn Program.

The 6th Annual Big Gobbler Contest was under way throughout Midwestern Ontario. There are not as many Turkey’s coming in as compared to last year, as the cool spring has played a factor in the slowdown.The leading Ladies division is up for grabs as only two Jakes are entered so Ladies, get out there and bag that big one. The leading Typical Turkey after the first week will win an Excalibur Exocet Crossbow with scope and accessories. The first week will end on Wednesday. The 2nd week prize is a Bushnell Spotting scope and a Pair of Burris Binoculars. Third week will be a Zeiss 3.5-10×44.

Fourth week leader prize is a Bushnell Spotting scope and a Pair of Burris Binoculars.

For the fifth and final 9 days is a Savage Axis 223 Rem rifle. Winner for the first week leading Typical Turkey is Curtis Fair of Kincardine with a score of 75.875 winning the Excalibur Crossbow. Total Number of Birds weighed in is 161 after the first week.

There is a new Woman’s leader and she is Judy McCutcheon of Waterloo. She bagged the Thundering Tom at 11:30am Sunday May 5, so it pays to stay out a little longer as these Tom’s are constantly moving during the day.

Arnold Berndt won the prize with highest scoring typical turkey shot during the second week of the hunt.

We have broken the 200 Turkey’s harvested, slower than last year, which means the season is just heating up. Well the Third week of the season is over, with not many birds coming in, however Jordan Davis of Tiverton bagged a big Turkey that placed him in second place and now wins the Zeiss 3.5-10 x44 scope for the Largest Scoring Typical during the third week. The number of Turkey’s entered has reached 305, down a little from last year.

During the fifth week, what few hunters are out are reporting that the Tom’s are really moving and strutting their stuff. Wallis Scott 12 years old from Mildmay saw plenty of Turkey’s with her father the evening of May 20th, where she bagged a decent bird putting her on the Youth and Ladies leader list.

The winner of the highest scoring typical turkey for the 4th week is Matt Dejong of Mitchell and he wins a Bushnell Spotting scope and a set of Burris Binoculars. Well the contest ended with a new leader (Dave Machan) nailing the Gobbler putting him into top spot for the $1000.00 prize. He also win the Savage rifle for largest scoring Turkey for the fifth and final week. All the winners are highlighted in red and what they have won.

The total number of Turkey’s weighed in was 343.

We would like to congratulate the winners and all contestants who participated in this year’s contest. The money all goes to a good cause, feeding the hungry children in the various schools.

After the first week we had 220 Turkeys weighed in.

The leading typical scoring turkey was shot by Jason Clusiau of Kincardine with a score of 74.8125. He now will receive The New Maximus Crossbow.

The winner of the Zeiss 3-9×40 scope with the highest scoring turkey for the second week isGene Johnston. Marcel Labonte of Kincardine,  wins the Savage high powered rifle for having the highest score of the week.

There has also been a new Lady’s leader and she is no stranger to that position. Julia Coon of Paisley was out with Goosen Around Guide Service and bagged a turkey scoring 70.062. Julia won that category last year and also finished second overall.

The fourth week highest scoring belongs to Mark Brown of Owen Sound with a score of 74.82 which will give him a Traditions Pursuit Pro Muzzle Loader and a Leupold High Intensity Flashlight for finishing second in the Non-Typical

There has been over 400 Turkeys weighed in, and over 1000 entrants in the contest.

The contest came to a close after 5 weeks of almost flawless weather with the fifth and final weekly leader being Rene Alexander who wins a Traditions Yukon Muzzle Loader, and also a Buck knife set for finishing second for the heaviest bird overall.

Although there were fewer entrants, we were still able to donate $6000.00 to The Breakfast Clubs at the various schools. From all three business’ and their staff, we appreciate every hunter who participated in this year’s contest. The leader in The Smallest Turkey Division is: Greg Zeph with a weight of 11.4 lbs and a total score of  22.9. There were still parts of egg shell on this bird.

We had a bearded hen come that had a 7” beard by Peter Hutchinson. This bird weighed 10.4 lbs, however with its beard, it was not the smallest turkey by score. We will issue two Smallest Prizes one for weight and one for score, therefore both Peter and Greg are winners of THE SMALLEST TURKEY DIVISION.  The winner of the non typical turkey had a total of 4 BEARDS.

During the contest 288 Turkeys were weighed in.

The Draw Prize winner of the Excalibur Crossbow (from all tickets that were purchased to enter the contest) is Matt Carere from Kincardine.

The Draw Prize winner for the Thompson Center Muzzle Loader (from all people who entered a Turkey) is Brian Track from Kincardine.
